Shea Is Back! Sorta.

.
Have you seen it?

According to reports everywhere, the old home plate from Shea Stadium has been embedded in to the pavement, in the parking lot, on the same plot of land where it rested Sept. 28, 2008. Joining the home plate, in which Beltran stood still at, are the other 3 bases and the pitcher's mound.

Some fans are dumbfounded as this has absolutely nothing to do with either the Giants or the Dodgers. Others are screaming that they NEED put up that kind of historical paraphernalia INSIDE CitiField, rather than relegate precious memories to the parking lot. (I say do both).

Then there are those individuals who say, "I don’t understand these people complaining about not having Mets paraphernalia inside the stadium. Do they not know that the Mets play in Citi Field? When I’m at the game, I’m watching the game. I don’t care what decorations they have in concourses or if their food tastes bad (it’s hot dogs and beer, how bad could it be?). Everyone should just stop complaining and enjoy the game."

And I agree. Fenway is practically all Green and they are the RED sox. How come this isn’t an issue for their fan base? Who cares about the colors; we want to see results!

For the heck of it, I'd love to see Shane Victorino attempt to steal second (in the parking lot) only to be mowed down by a Jeep Wrangler coming the other way. Now, that would be something to see...

Gosh, it's just money. Can we not enjoy anything anymore?

Its all about the money it's not about enjoying the game.

Youve been had. Weve all been had. There's no denying that the NY bosses used our money to build stadiums in order to enrich themselvs and to which majority of the population cannot afford to go.

Stop being a useful idiot!

I hope the Mets and Yankees go bankrupt. It'll be the best thing to happen to the sport.

It's the only thing that would stop the Mets from winning these days.... :-)

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, courtesy of ESPN.com, although the Mets reached the postseason only once in the past three seasons, they spent by far the most time in sole possession of first place in their respective division of any team in the majors during that time (367 days).

Makes sense...and it seems like their setting themselvs up for disaster once again.

AL, if the mets and yankees went bankrupt, how would you spend your days??
this blog wouldnt be in existance??

Question: If the Mets do go ahead and win the NL East... do you think they'd go far in the playoffs? I think if this team would have gotten into the playoffs the past 2 years they could've done some serious damage. The only problem is: Getting into the playoffs.

I'm confident in their playoff (short series) play. It's the course of a 162 game season that worries me. Too bad you play the 162 to get into the playoffs.

Am I talking Chinese here? Well, it makes sense.

Lol, Real Men Wear Pink. But Al is a good man and a busy one. We thank him for shedding light on matters with us.... (now if he'd only shed some pounds...jk jk...)

why is sheff still around??

Eddie G said...

He was batting .190 as of yesterday. I like his presence in the clubhouse. No, not his presents in the clubhouse - he's done with roids.

Hey R.M.W.P.- back off of al, some of us here get paid to keep this blog going and others get stuff on the side....(like keychains and magnets) not those other things you were just thinking about, sicko

EVERYONE CALM DOWN NOW! It's like a playgroup gone bad in here. Can't we all get along? It's not like we're on a 7 game losing streak for gosh sakes...

BTW, Mets Magnets will be ordered once we get the logo done.

wario said...

i mean seriously, calm down with the bat in your hands your 40!!!

wario said...

mmmmmmagnets!!

wario said...

or shall i say mmmmetsgets!?

Eli From Brooklyn said...

Creative, Wario!

Sheffield bats the way he's always batted. Too bad the only thing different are those results!

wario said...

you should have a poll of what to give out to your loyal fan base...

wario said...

Tell me if I’m wrong, just because you’re a presence in the clubhouse doesn’t mean you have to pinch hit!
Remember Julio Franco?
Why don’t we just bring him back to be the goodwill ambassador?

Eddie G said...

Valid point. But you still gotta play to show the young guys that you have what to back it up still...

I vote for Magnets!

who cares about the stadium as long as they win they can play anywhere.

wario said...

back it up??? the guy has 500 hr's!!!!
need he say more??

Eli From Brooklyn said...

True, Dovy. Doesn't a winning streak make everything all better? I think we'll all start to panic once a starter gives up 8 runs and we lose the game....

Ahhh, the beauty of baseball.

And Wario, back it up like he's STILL got it!

i hate this stadium, that met color feeling is gone.true what happens on the field means most, but it will take awhile to not feel like where playing all 162 games on the road, and guees what who ever was in charge of this pathetic and over hyped stadium reall just dosent care! and go penguins!

Eli From Brooklyn said...

Crosby Kohn, WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME.

All the way from Israel! Nice... Although your Penguins are seeing much success, I must let you know that New York is a Mets Town. It was, it is and always will be.

I don't mind the no Mets sign or colors inside the stadium... it will feel like a Mets park cuz that's where they play. And play well.

Hope to see you return to the site! (studies show u return every few months)

jk....

good to hear from u!
