A tweet war!
The Jets do not play the Cincinnati Bengals until Sunday night, in the league’s final regular-season game, but the war of words has already begun. Only the platform has changed.
Chad Ochocinco, the Bengals receiver who will face Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis in a game with playoff implications for both teams, has been tweeting trash since about noon Monday, when he wrote on his Twitter account: “I’m coming to the big apple to give NY what they’ve never seen, an escape inmate gone wild on Revis Island” … “try and cover me!”
Ochocinco praised Revis, apparently after watching Jets game film, but then wrote: “Where you at son, when I finish with you you’ll be wearing 42.”
Revis’s uniform number is 24.
Revis picked up the thread Tuesday morning, when he responded on Twitter by saying: “Good morning world. I just woke up from this crazy dream. @OGOchoCinco came to Revis Island and disappeared.”
The Jets are guaranteed a playoff spot if they beat Cincinnati on Sunday. If they lose, their season is over. The Bengals, meanwhile, may be playing for the No. 3 seed in the American Football Conference, depending on the result of the New England-Houston game.
Trash-talking aside, Ochocinco predicted a good game: “There’s a reason they changed the game to 8 o’clock at night — they should put our match up on pay-per-view.”
Revis agreed: “Everyone tune in this week to the 24-85 show!”
