Only Worry 'Bout The New York Mess

Friday, July 3, 2009

Anthony DiComo of MLB Blogs writes, "After this weekend's series at Citizens Bank Park, the Mets will have played 81 games, the exact midpoint of their season."

"This weekend is a critical juncture. If the Mets can win one of three in Philadelphia -- and they arguably have the advantage in all three pitching matchups -- then they're a good bet to head into the All-Star Break within close range of the Phillies. And that's just if they can win one of three. If they can win or even sweep the series, they could potentially be in first place through 81 games."

....Mr. DiComo fails to recognize the fact that the Marlins sit in 1st place as well, while the Braves are in back and ready to pounce with a well put together winning streak. Now I'm not saying the Marlins and the Braves can compete with the Mets & Phillies if the latter two are at full strength; but the problem is - they're not.... Basically, we can't worry 'bout the other teams and how well (or poorly) they are playing... We have to take care of our own (yes, Ray Ramirez, I'm talking to you too) and the rest will take care of itself...

Agreed. We cannot worry about anyone else but ourselves. If we play well, do our thing, and produce - nobody can stop us. And we saw what happened in 2006... we went far, not really because the other teams weren't a match, but because we did what we had to and when we had to...

...up until Carlos Beltran glued a bat to his left shoulder.

The Phillies will put it together, a lot quicker than the Mets will. Does that make you nervous? Where's Maine? Where's Reyes? This whole injury thing seems so murky, mainly because we don't know any details!!!!! We need to get Omar's number!!

Call. I dare you to ask for him.

Oh, and if you do - tape it. I'd love to post the reaction from the employee...

Thanks.

the mets approach this season after the last two, is to lose the games in first half and come on strong in the second, instead of burning out late.... i think we are on to something here.
